postnatal

My aim is to give you all the tools, information and support you need to breastfeed successfully. We’ll go over:

  • Your pregnancy, labour & delivery

  • How feeding is currently going, observing and assessing a feed

  • Positioning & latching to maximise comfort, ensure full feeds, good milk transfer and supply

  • If required, an assessment of your breasts and/or baby’s mouth

  • How to manage breastfeeding, including hand expressing and pumping, engorgement and mastitis and preventing/healing nipple damage

  • Answers to any breast/bottle feeding questions

  • A care plan tailored to your individual needs to help you reach your breastfeeding goals,

  • Support with initiating lactation or relactation

  • Support with breastfeeding following breast surgery

follow up

Occasionally it may be helpful to have more than one appointment to check on progress and to fine tune things.

We can assess how feeding is going, baby’s progress, any adjustments to positioning and latching that may be needed and make a plan to ensure your goals are met.

As babies grow, they change developmentally and physically. Sometimes this changes how they feed too. Together, we can establish what you and your baby need to manage the next chapter.
